Teach Democracy (formerly Constitutional Rights Foundation) inspires lifelong civic engagement through interactive programs and resources for teachers and young people. After more than 60 years as a leader in civic education, the organization found its name was creating confusion: it was often perceived as partisan, mistaken for a funder, or seen as narrowly focused on the Constitution, rather than on the broader practice of civic learning.

501(c) Design led a comprehensive rebrand, grounded in competitive research, interviews, and workshops, resulting in a clear, descriptive new name and tagline that reinforce a core truth: civic participation begins with civic education. Kerstin developed a complete visual identity system, brand book, and launch strategy, including securing new URL and social handles, redesigning flagship materials, and guiding a future website redesign. The rollout positioned Teach Democracy with greater clarity, confidence, and relevance.

501c Design was just the right company at the right time for Teach Democracy (formerly Constitutional Rights Foundation). Prior efforts to change the name had failed but Kerstin brought the right mix of patience and professionalism. Her research and process were exhaustive and inclusive so that stakeholders were confident in her work and even excited at the prospect of change.
