Summer on the Hudson is NYC Parks’ annual outdoor arts and culture festival, stretching through Riverside Park from 59th Street to 153rd Street. Featuring a wide range of free programming—including live music, dance performances, movies under the stars, DJ dance parties, kids’ shows, special events, and wellness activities—the festival is designed to be welcoming, accessible, and fun for all New Yorkers.

501(c) Design created a distinctive logo, custom illustration system, and flexible brand identity that could live seamlessly across print materials and large outdoor banners throughout the park. To keep production costs manageable, the core design elements and layouts remain consistent each year, while the color palette is refreshed annually. The evolving colors keep the festival feeling fresh, while the repeated banners and illustrations make Summer on the Hudson instantly recognizable season after season.

Working with Kerstin is a consistent pleasure. From our initial brainstorming meeting to preliminary designs to the revision process, Kerstin was responsive, enthusiastic, and attentive to my vision for the project. She fully rebranded my festival, including graphics, banners, and a 20-page brochure with event calendar, and I continue to work with her each year to update the marketing materials.
