As Art Director of The Progressive Magazine for eight years, 501c Design shaped the visual identity of one of America's longest-running independent political magazines, translating sharp investigative journalism and progressive commentary into design that matched the writing's urgency. Each issue called for a balance of editorial clarity and visual ambition—whether that meant building cover concepts that could stop a reader mid-scroll, designing layouts that gave dense policy reporting room to breathe, or commissioning illustration that captured nuance text alone couldn't. 501c developed a cohesive visual language across print and digital, from feature spreads and infographics to social assets and web design, all built to carry the magazine's voice consistently across formats. The result: design that didn't just support the journalism but amplified it—drawing readers in, holding their attention, and reinforcing The Progressive's role as a trusted source for independent political analysis.
